White House National Economic Council Associate Director Duleep Singh, who coordinates the development of anti-Russian sanctions, plans to go on a long vacation (leave of adsence), writes The Washington Post, citing three sources. The information was also confirmed by Bloomberg sources.

According to them, Singh had “family circumstances”. Vacation should start next month, but the exact time and duration are unknown.

The Washington Post writes that the White House is still deciding who to replace Singh during his absence. Among the candidates— Mike Pyle, Senior Advisor to the US Vice President for Economic Affairs.

The newspaper also reports that law enforcement officers are investigating an incident that occurred in February, during which an unknown person broke into Singh's house. This happened a few days after the United States, with the participation of an official, began to impose sanctions on Russia because of the operation in Ukraine. However, there is no evidence of a connection between the crime and Singh's work in the presidential administration, WP writes, citing a source.

A White House spokesman said that Singh's vacation was not related to breaking into his house.

The United States has imposed several packages of sanctions against Russia, including sanctions against the banking sector, export-import restrictions, personal sanctions.
