Poland will supply Ukraine with weapons worth almost $470 million, for the country this is one of largest contracts over the past 30 years, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of State Assets of Poland Jacek Sasin said at a briefing at the military plant Huta Stalowa Wola. A fragment of the speech was shown by TVP Info.
Together with Sasin, Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki visited the plant. “Now we are signing one of the largest, if not the largest, arms export contracts in the last 30 years,” he said (quote from the PAP agency).
The prime minister did not specify what kind of weapons would be supplied to Ukraine under the contract, but noted that the financing of the supplies would be partially covered by the European Union. “And Poland receives this money in order to improve its production potential,” — said Morawiecki.
According to Sasin, the amount of the contract will be “almost 3 billion, more than 2 billion 700 thousand zlotys.” At the current exchange rate, this is more than $467 million. “There has not been such a contract in the Polish defense industry over the past 30 years,” as did Morawiecki, he noted.
Last week, the Dziennik portal, without citing sources, reported that Ukraine would additionally purchase 60 AHS Krab self-propelled howitzers from Poland in addition to the 18 units that had already been delivered. According to him, the contract was signed on May 31, and deliveries should begin in the coming months. Howitzers will be produced at the Huta Stalowa Wola plant. The maximum firing range of the Krab— 40km.
According to Dziennik, the contract amounted to approximately 3 billion złoty (more than $700 million). However, the issue of ammunition still remains a problem, since Poland cannot yet produce them on its own, the newspaper writes. As the authors of the article suggested, the United States can supply ammunition to Ukraine.

The Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized the decision of Western countries to supply Ukraine with weapons. According to presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov, despite the fact that Kyiv continues to be “stuffed with the most modern weapons,” the goals of the special operation “will be achieved in any case.” “[These deliveries] will simply cause more suffering to Ukraine, which is just a tool in the hands of those countries that supply [weapons] there,” — he said.
